Realistic Kendrick School mock exam experience
Brainbox Learning’s Kendrick School mocks recreate the key stages of the GL-style 11+ entrance exam, from registration and recorded instructions through to two timed papers, a supervised break and collection. Experiencing the full routine in advance helps girls become more comfortable in formal exam conditions and approach the real day with greater confidence and resilience.
Paper 1 covers English and Verbal Reasoning, while Paper 2 covers Maths and Non-Verbal Reasoning. Instructions are delivered through recorded audio and supported by video on screen, ensuring that every student receives the same guidance throughout the exam.

Teacher-Marked and Independently Checked
Every completed answer booklet is marked by an experienced local Brainbox Learning 11+ examiner. The marking is then independently checked before results are issued.
Each answered and unanswered question is reviewed carefully, helping ensure that the final results accurately reflect the papers completed on the day.
No automated scanning or optical-reader marking.
Results and Feedback
Every booking includes a teacher-marked Results PDF showing paper-by-paper and subject-by-subject scores, comparison with Year 4 and Year 5 averages, and a mock exam progress table.
Where a Full Examiner Report has been booked, parents also receive fully personalised examiner comments and individual walkthroughs for every incorrectly answered and unanswered question.
A one-to-one feedback session gives girls and parents the opportunity to discuss results, any difficulties and next steps with an experienced tutor, either online or face-to-face at home. These are one-hour tuition sessions completely tailored to your daughter’s mock performance, including time spent working through incorrectly answered questions and developing exam technique.
What happens on the day?
Saturday sessions
1. Arrival and registration — 2:00pm
Girls should arrive at the venue in Reading town centre at 2:00pm for registration.
2. Paper 1 — 2:15pm
Girls complete Paper 1, which is a multiple-choice English and Verbal Reasoning paper split into two equal sections.
3. Short supervised break
There is a short break between the two papers. Girls are supervised throughout this time.
4. Paper 2 — 3:30pm
Girls complete Paper 2, which is a multiple-choice Maths and Non-Verbal Reasoning paper split into two equal sections.
5. Collection — 4:40pm
The mock exam session finishes at 4:40pm, and girls can be collected from the venue.
Sunday sessions

Girls should arrive at the venue in Reading town centre at 10:00am for registration.
2. Paper 1 — 10:15am
Girls complete Paper 1, which is a multiple-choice English and Verbal Reasoning paper split into two equal sections.

4. Paper 2 — 11:30am

Recorded instructions
Before each section begins, instructions are delivered through recorded audio and supported by video on screen. This closely reflects the format girls will experience in the real entrance exam and helps them become familiar with it in advance.
What should my daughter bring?
Girls should bring:
two sharpened HB pencils;
an eraser;
a pencil sharpener.
All other materials required for the mock exam will be provided on the day.
Realistic Reading School mock exam experience
Brainbox Learning’s Reading School mocks recreate the experience boys can expect on the day of the real FSCE 11+ entrance exam, from registration and recorded audio instructions through to four timed papers and collection. Following the introduction of Reading School’s new format in 2025, our specialist examination team used focus group feedback from 14 boys who sat the exam to help further shape a realistic mock experience designed to build familiarity, confidence and resilience.
The Adventure Paper and Compass Paper use multiple-choice questions, the Beacon Paper requires free-response answers, and the Discovery Paper is the creativity paper. Subjects covered include English, Maths, the wider Year 5 National Curriculum and Creativity. Each mock paper set is written from scratch by experienced local 11+ teachers specifically in the style of the Reading School exam and completed under carefully timed conditions in an exam hall alongside boys from other schools.

The Full Report & Feedback Session package also includes a one-to-one tuition session with an experienced local Brainbox Learning tutor to discuss the results, work through any challenges and address areas where further work is recommended. These feedback sessions last for one hour and take place either face-to-face in your home or online.
